the beaver blog/

This blog post will be an on-going gallery, showcasing the weekly progress of our facial growth. If you'd like to see more regular updates, then check out our Mo Space pages above or take a look at our Facebook page.
A few of the Beavers have shaved off what facial hair we have as part of Movember - the charity event to raise money for men's health and prostate cancer initiatives. We will now keep our beard areas clean shaven, only growing a moustache until the end of November.
We Need Your Donations!
Prostate cancer is one of the biggest killers of men in the UK and you can donate to helping this worthy cause (and justify our sacrifice) by going to one of our 'Mo Space' pages and donating to the team or an individual:

Day 30 - Final Day of Movember

I recently read an article about how nearly one in three adults in the UK owns a smartphone. This ties neatly into another statistic, that 50% of all internet access is via mobile connections, rather than logging on at a desktop. For that reason, websites that are mobile optimised are vital for companies looking to engage with customers via the web.
We create websites which are compatible for mobile and tablet devices, meaning content is formatted to communicate directly with this expanding market.
The snazzy work we recently completed for Heat Recruitment demonstrates this in practice. It included updating their vacancies page so that people can search for jobs directly from their mobile, enabling them to see new jobs as they become available, wherever they are. Alternatively, using the new ‘iProfileSeeker’ clients can also to browse prospective candidates and create a talent pool, primed for when they are ready to recruit.

We’ve just set the new incarnation of nockolds.co.uk live. This new evolution combines a free yet considered interface with an alternate view on a structured layout, meaning we were able to retain tried and tested techniques but manifest them in a new way.
“It's been a labour of love for me really, as my initial involvement in 2006 was one of my first steps into the world of the web design so it was great that the marketing team at Nockolds asked us to take the interface forward.” – Doug Taplin, Designer at Beaver Design
The website features a search tool, news blog with social media integration, events calendar and a document archive for Nockolds to upload relevant legal documents for their clients. From the ground up, the website is built for good search engine optimisation and easy navigation for visitors.
"Beaver Design have just re-designed Nockolds LLP's website for the third time over period of 9 years and have once again come up with an innovative new design and great new features. Beaver's designers were very proactive in suggesting ways forward, were a pleasure to work with and overall did a great job. Beaver Design comes strongly recommended!" – James Brunton, Partner at Nockolds LLP
All in all these developments bring nockolds.co.uk bang up to date, creating an interesting and informative legal environment for clients and solicitors alike.

We are proud to announce that the website for StageWorks Gear has now gone live:
Earlier this year, Beaver Design worked closely with the new StageWorks company to develop their brand and unique identity. Entering a competitive market, StageWorks needed show the unique features of their products for studio and stage.
PRODUCTS
Beaver designed the packaging for the new StageWorks non-slip mat. Manufactured using a triple-layered technology, the non-slip mats are retailed in pairs inside an environmentally friendly cardboard envelope.
Using in-house photography, we created a simple but bold design to show the simplicity of the product. The packaging is designed not only to be eye-catching, but also to portray the products versatility compared to older solutions.
WEB
A new website was designed to follow on from the established brand identity, using a stylish look with contrasting elements to create a bold impression.
The site is clear and organised simply, with lots of video, images and detail on the StageWorks products. It also features its own blog and links to various social media channels, which are updated by StageWorks.
Throughout the site, modern web standards are used to ensure it works efficiently with the current range of web browsers and computers people use, including SmartPhones and touch screen devices.
The StageWorks finished site is simple and clear, full of detail and imagery, and provides a substantial web presence for the new StageWorks company.
Keep an eye on the StageWorks website for future products and solutions for studio and stage!

Beaver Design has recently provided some design artwork for our long-term client Spectrum Interactive. Spectrum bought a promotional space in a publication which had a very short deadline and we were asked us to create the artwork for Spectrum.
